Andhra Pradesh's economic strategy, championed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, centers on the principle of 'One Family, One Entrepreneur'. This vision underpins the state's drive to foster robust entrepreneurial activity and ensure widespread prosperity.
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector forms a critical pillar of India's economy. These enterprises collectively account for approximately 30% of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generate over half of all employment opportunities nationwide.
In alignment with this strategic imperative, Kondapalli Srinivas, the Minister for MSMEs, advocated for increased participation of women in entrepreneurial ventures. He emphasized, during an MSME Growth Workshop held in NTR District on Wednesday, that their involvement is indispensable for attaining an inclusive economic growth trajectory at the desired rate. The event was a joint initiative of the District Industries Centre (DIC) and the India SME Forum.
To stimulate business growth across Andhra Pradesh, the state government is actively developing an MSME park in each legislative constituency. Minister Srinivas confirmed at the workshop that 19 of these dedicated zones are now operational. Construction or planning is currently underway for an additional 138 facilities.
Financial backing has also been substantial, with ₹300 crore earmarked through the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneur Programme. This allocation is specifically designated to facilitate the creation of novel industrial enterprises.
Targeted incentives are also in place to encourage women members of the Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) to enter the business sphere. Mr. Srinivas highlighted a reduction in rural bank interest rates for these groups, now set at 12%, down from the previous 13%, aiming to alleviate financial burdens.
The workshop's broader mandate, as outlined by Mr. Srinivas, was to inspire youth, women, and DWCRA members towards entrepreneurial pursuits. Gadde Rammohan, the Vijayawada East MLA, urged prospective business owners to fully leverage the capital subsidies provided by the government. The event drew a diverse array of participants, including AP MSME Corporation CEO Viswa Manoharan and Executive Director A. Sudhakar. Representatives from global entities such as Meta, Amazon Global Selling, and Walmart Vriddhi were present, alongside delegates from CII - NITI Aayog and various banking institutions.
