First Human Trials of AI-Designed Vaccine
Researchers at University of Cambridge have tested first vaccine created entirely by artificial intelligence on humans. This vaccine targets several viruses, including those causing major outbreaks like Sars,Mers, and Covid-19.
Results from small,early-stage trial showed some immune response among participants. Impact was limited, researchers still see potential for AI to shake up vaccine development. Jonathan Heeney,Cambridge researcher and study co-author, emphasized change, saying, “We’ve turned vaccine development from being reactive to being proactive.”
“Universal vaccine” idea could mean stronger defenses against future pandemics. Current vaccines, like for influenza and Covid-19, often need updates to tackle changing strains . Aim is this vaccine might cut need for constant adjustments, offering more stable viral protection.
World still battling infectious diseases, this trial is a step toward smarter public health solutions . Researchers keep exploring what their findings mean, looking to a future where vaccines get produced faster and more efficiently...
