BRIC Team reports: Founder of the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) and head of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Union Territory of Puducherry, N. Rangasamy, was on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) sworn in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the fifth time.
At a ceremony held at Lok Niwas, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan administered the oaths of office and secrecy to Mr. Rangasamy, Bharatiya Janata Party’s legislature party leader A.
Background
Namassivayam and AINRC legislator Malladi Krishna Rao were sworn in as Ministers in the second NDA government in the UT. After the ceremony, the Chief Minister visited the Legislative Assembly. He was given a guard of honour by the territorial police.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin, the party’s national general secretary (organisation) B.L. Santhosh, party in-charge for UT Nirmal Kumar Surana, MLAs-elect belonging to the AINRC, BJP, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Latchiya Jananayaga Katchi, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, Neyam Makkal Katchi, and Independents attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan, Director General of Police Shalini Singh, and senior officials also participated.
