Aitken Spence Hotels has unveiled the 'Trails of Bawa' tour, a tribute to the architectural legacy of Geoffrey Bawa, during the Galle Literary Festival. This five-day journey offers an immersive experience into Bawa's pioneering Modern Tropicalism.
The tour takes participants through five of Bawa's iconic creations: Heritance Kandalama, Heritance Ayurveda, Heritance Ahungalla, Lunuganga Garden, and No. 11, Colombo. Each site exemplifies Bawa's innovative use of open spaces, natural light, and local materials, reflecting his profound influence on architecture.
Stasshani Jayawardena, Joint Deputy Chairperson and Managing Director of Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings, emphasized the significance of the tour, stating it is more than just a journey; it is an experience to engage with the elements that inspired Bawa. FLY91 Expands Regional Network
Regional airline FLY91 has added Tirupati as its 13th destination, enhancing connectivity across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The airline now serves four destinations in these states, linking Tirupati with Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Rajahmundry.
Manoj Chacko, MD and CEO of FLY91, highlighted the addition of Tirupati as a milestone in their regional expansion. The airline aims to facilitate travel for pilgrims, tourists, business travelers, and students, reinforcing its commitment to connecting key regional centers.
FLY91's new services include daily flights between Tirupati and Hyderabad, with additional flights to Vijayawada and Rajahmundry on select days. The airline's network now spans major cities, including Goa, Pune, Bengaluru, and Kochi, focusing on enhancing access between India's growing regional markets.
