A Bhopal court has ordered the judicial custody of Samarth Singh and his mother-in-law, Giribala Singh,for 14 days as they face accusations of dowry harassment in connection with the death of Twisha Sharma. The decision came on Tuesday,June 2,2026, after the completion of their remand by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Twisha Sharma was discovered hanging in her marital home on May 12. Following this tragic event,the CBI has been investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. On Monday,the agency conducted reconstruction of the scene using dummies to better understand the events leading up to her alleged suicide . Forensic and crime scene experts collaborated with the CBI during this process.
During the court proceedings,the CBI presented the two accused before Judge Shobhna Bhalave. After hearing the details,the court remanded them to custody until June 16. Ankur Pandey,the lawyer representing Twisha's family,confirmed the developments.
As part of the investigation, officials have sought detailed accounts from Samarth and Giribala Singh regarding the events of night Twisha died. The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting issues related to dowry harassment and domestic violence in India.
