Hardeep Singh Brar,President and CEO of BMW Group India,announced a 17% sales jump in first quarter of 2026,coinciding with launch of MINI Countryman C,an SUV built at Tamil Nadu facility.

Brar aims to double MINI sales this year, building on last year's 730 units. Many MINI buyers already own luxury cars,often getting a MINI as a second car or gift for a partner. Luxury segment consistently outperforms broader market .

Chennai plant is key to BMW's growth,with Tamil Nadu making up roughly 8% of sales in India. Production volumes at facility have climbed steadily since COVID-19, hitting new milestones almost monthly,said Managing Director of BMW Group Plant Chennai. BMW X1 still the bestseller produced there.
