On fourth day in theaters,Bandar, starring Bobby Deol and directed by Anurag Kashyap, saw box office earnings drop to just ₹24 lakh. This is film’s lowest daily haul since release, even after getting good reviews from critics and audiences .
The crime drama started with ₹50 lakh on Thursday, picked up steam over weekend, hitting ₹95 lakh on Saturday and over ₹1 crore Sunday. But come Monday, momentum stalled . Total stands around ₹2.69 crore net in India, gross about ₹3.22 crore.
Competition from other films a big factor in Bandar's struggle. It's up against several big releases, like Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai,Ram Charan’s Peddi, and Hollywood horror Obsession. Hard to draw crowds despite positive buzz.
Analysts say film appeals to niche crowd, relies on word-of-mouth for sales. Social media chatter's been good, but hasn't turned into big numbers at box office.
Inspired by real events, Bandar tells story of Samar, a fading singer-actor whose life unravels after a serious accusation. Deol’s performance as troubled lead praised by viewers, critics. Cast also includes Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad, Raj B Shetty, Jitendra Joshi,Riddhi Sen,Indrajith Sukumaran,Nagesh Bhonsle.
Boosting film's profile, Deol's half-sister Esha Deol endorsed his performance, calling it one of his best, urging people to watch. Despite box office hurdles, good reviews might keep Bandar afloat longer…
