Gordie Howe International Bridge, linking Detroit and Windsor, will open by week's end, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed. This despite U.S . President Donald Trump's threats to block it unless Canada made concessions.
Carney, speaking in Ottawa, called the bridge a landmark in cross-border ties. A "symbol" of cooperation, he said, good for Canadians and Americans alike. “Great for Canadians crossing the border,Americans too,and commerce,” he noted, dodging questions on any Trump negotiations.

Recently,Trump kept pressuring Canada, suggesting it become U.S.'s “51st state.” His team faces legal challenges on tariffs but pushes on,including tariffs on nations accused of forced labor,Canada on that list .
Before it became contentious,Gordie Howe Bridge was hailed as a partnership emblem. Bridge deal made in 2012,and in 2017,Trump and then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau vowed swift completion. Named for a Canadian hockey legend, bridge aims to ease traffic, boost U.S.-Canada trade . But now…
