Chen Weiqiang,renowned professor in biomedical engineering,has come back to China after a successful stint at New York University. Now he'll be a distinguished professor at Nanjing University's school of biomedical engineering. Big career shift .
At welcome ceremony June 11 on the Suzhou campus,Jiang Tian,assistant president of Nanjing University,lauded Chen's work in cellular biomechanics and organ chips. Jiang noted Chen's dedication to academia,saying, “He chose to join Nanjing University during his peak academic years and this heartfelt dedication and high level of trust are truly moving.”
Before this move,Chen was professor and director of graduate education at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. His academic journey started at Nanjing University,where he got a bachelor’s in physics in 2005. Later,he completed a master’s in electrical engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008.
