Indian government is moving to facilitate a loan for first phase takeover of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project, covering 69.2 kilometers. Union Minister for Coal and Mines,G. Kishan Reddy, revealed this at a New Delhi press conference Tuesday, saying Centre's decision came after reviewing proposals from relevant parties.
Loan got in-principle approval from Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs. An agreement was signed last month with Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC), Telangana state government, and L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) . It's a ₹13,527-crore loan,20-year tenure, lower interest rates.
Reddy hit back at Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who accused him of blocking Metro's second phase expansion and other projects. Reddy suggested forming a committee of senior journalists to probe claims. “I will abide by whatever report they submit. I am even prepared to resign if necessary.”
On Warangal airport land acquisition delays,Reddy remained hopeful about getting a foundation stone-laying ceremony with Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon. He stressed Centre's backing for Telangana's project proposals, promising cooperation.
Reddy also slammed Chief Minister for what he called “baseless and slanderous allegations,” implying these were distractions from public discontent over unmet promises. He alleged corruption and irregularities rising in Telangana, saying while some ministers were “looting at will,” key sectors like real estate, industry were struggling.
He invited open debate at Press Club or Martyrs’ Memorial on promises made by ruling party and their actual implementation…
