Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy wants Telangana's government employees to work an extra hour daily to hit state's big economic goals. He’s eyeing US $1 trillion economy by 2034, aiming for US $3 trillion by 2047. The target? 10% of India's GDP.
Thursday, Reddy pointed out Telangana, with just 2.6% of India’s population, already makes up 5% of GDP. He thinks this can double in 20 years with employee dedication. “I am not asking for anything more. Spare an extra hour every day so that revenue increases,” he said, urging staff to cut corruption and inefficiencies from past administrations.
His comments came as he inked a deal with insurance firms for employee coverage. He slammed the prior government for racking up debt, with nearly ₹2 lakh crore spent on servicing it in 30 months. “Staff were not paid salaries in time and even the payments were made in installments,” he noted, criticizing the fiscal mismanagement.
Now,Congress government reportedly releases ₹2,000 crore monthly for retirement and benefits. Reddy praised employees as key links between government and public. “If I am to take the reins for the second time, which I will, employees will play major role in process,” he said, urging them to be government’s brand ambassadors.
He also took aim at opposition parties blocking projects like the Regional Ring Road and Musi rejuvenation. Reddy accused BRS leaders K . Chandrasekhar Rao and K.T . Rama Rao of ignoring constituents who didn't back them. He reassured employees that government is open to resolving issues through dialogue.
On a personal note,Reddy wants to be known as "Revanthanna," or brother, rather than Chief Minister. “Posts are not permanent. We should build human relations which will remain forever,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced a new insurance scheme for government workers, calling it a first in India. It provides security for families, offering ₹1.25 crore for general accidents and ₹2 to ₹3 crore for air accidents. Vikramarka thanked banks for helping roll out this coverage without extra costs.
He urged employees and bankers to work together for Reddy’s $3 trillion vision by 2047 . Meeting saw ministers like G. Vivek Venkatswamy,Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Md. Azharuddin rallying behind Chief Minister's big economic plans…
