Communist Party USA (CPUSA) brushed off former President Donald Trump's claims about communists infiltrating Democrats. CPUSA co-chair Joe Sims hit back Friday, calling Trump's comments reckless anti-communist rhetoric, especially after recent wins by Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates.
Trump spoke out after Janeese Lewis George,D.C . mayoral nominee, clinched the Democratic primary. He labeled her a "Communist,"vowing to block her policies on police and immigration. But George isn't CPUSA; she's DSA,which champions democratic socialism, not communism.
Broadside,Trump blasted other Democratic winners like Melat Kiros in Denver and Zohran Mamdani,New York City mayor. He called them "hardcore, godless communists,"saying they're biggest threat since nation's founding. At Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Policy Conference,Trump claimed communism deadlier than world wars,Pearl Harbor,9/11.
Sims countered — no Democratic candidates are CPUSA members. "I don’t know any Democratic candidate for Congress that’s a member of the Communist Party," he quipped, joking about dues. He stressed Democratic Socialists push democratic reforms to ease suffering.
CPUSA co-chair Rossana Cambron said Trump's rhetoric reeks of desperation with midterms looming. She predicted MAGA's downfall in upcoming elections. Sims called for an end to red-baiting,emphasizing CPUSA's peaceful socialism vision, distinct from Trump’s view of communism .
On Independence Day at Mount Rushmore,Trump warned of communist resurgence in U.S.,especially among immigrants. Claimed they harbor ideas against American values. "We’re not going to let this happen," he vowed, doubling down on anti-communist stance.
CPUSA pushes back against Trump’s narrative, framing debate around socialism vs. capitalism. Sims argued real enemy isn't communism but capitalism, urging for deeper political understanding…
