Bageerath, while another team was dispatched to Karimnagar after a letter purportedly written by the accused seeking additional time to appear before investigators began circulating on social media.The development came hours after Mr. Bageerath failed to appear before the Petbasheerabad police within the time specified in the notice issued to him in connection with the case.“We have not officially received that letter yet, but it is being extensively circulated on social media platforms,” the Commissioner said.Mr. Bageerath had been directed to appear before investigators by 2 p.m.

Bageerath was under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which empowers police to require the attendance of a person during investigation. The provision does not prescribe any immediate penal consequence for failure to appear within the initial time mentioned in the notice.Meanwhile, several women’s groups staged protests outside the Petbasheerabad police station demanding action in the case. All India Democratic Students’ Organisation and Progressive Organisation of Women activists stage a protest at Tank Bund, Hyderabad on Wednesday.
