A powerful earthquake measuring 7.8 struck southern Philippines recently,claiming at least 41 lives, according to reports from local media. The Office of Civil Defense confirmed that more than 470 individuals sustained injuries,while four others remain unaccounted for . quake has wreaked havoc on the island of Mindanao,where approximately 1,900 structures have suffered damage, including schools, hospitals, and homes. Of these,around 1,500 buildings were completely destroyed .
In response to the disaster, a state of emergency has been declared in General Santos City. The earthquake has impacted over 145,000 residents across region, leaving many in urgent need of assistance . Local authorities are working to assess full extent of damage and provide aid to those affected.
The Russian Embassy in the Philippines has stated that it is in touch with local authorities and currently has no reports of Russian citizens injured in the earthquake. As recovery efforts continue, the focus remains on supporting the victims and restoring essential services in the devastated areas.
