Delhi Government launched bold plan to boost youth entrepreneurship, pouring over Rs 400 crore into the Delhi Start-up and Incubation Policy. Over five years, this aims to make Delhi a top spot for innovation and business in India.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wants to turn young people from job seekers into job creators. The plan offers resources, guidance, and funds to students, researchers, and budding entrepreneurs with fresh ideas.
Part of the plan? An Annual Delhi Start-up Youth Festival. It will bring together young innovators, schools, start-ups, investors, and policymakers. A stage for new ideas and partnerships . An energy boost for the young business scene .
The policy rolls out first in 11 state universities, 13 government-aided colleges, polytechnic institutes,ITIs, and government schools . They'll get one-time funding to start or upgrade incubation centres, with yearly support for mentoring, networking, and innovation projects.
Start-ups linked to these centres can get financial help as they grow, from prototypes to market-ready products. This aims to turn promising ideas into thriving businesses .
Gupta said the centres will give young entrepreneurs access to modern facilities, expert advice, business services, and intellectual property help . Labs, testing facilities, and links to investors and industry pros will be part of the package, supporting them from start to finish.
This isn't just about starting businesses. It's about boosting Delhi's innovation culture, creating jobs, promoting research, linking industry with schools, and speeding up the city's knowledge economy.
To keep things on track, the State Incubation Policy Monitoring Committee (SIPMC) will be set up. This group will include government officials, educators, industry leaders, and start-up community members. Their job: ensure the policy runs smoothly, staying transparent and performance-focused.
Chief Minister Gupta reiterated the government's pledge to spark innovation and unlock the entrepreneurial spirit of Delhi's youth.
