Dr . N. Rajeeva Shetty, key figure in dental education and former Director of Medical Education in Karnataka, died at his home in Banashankari,Bengaluru on night of June 24. He was 93.
As a pioneering endodontist,Dr. Shetty was first to hold this specialty in Karnataka and first dentist in India to become Director of Medical Education . His career saw big steps in dental education,research,healthcare administration. He served as principal of Government Dental College and Research Institute in Bengaluru,where he pushed academic standards and excellence in dental training.
His work earned him many accolades,including Karnataka Rajyotsava Award and a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). He also received top honor from Indian Endodontic Society,showing his impact on field.
Dr. Shetty was respected by peers,students,and wider medical community for his dedication and leadership in advancing dental sciences in India. His death has led to an outpouring of grief among colleagues,students.
Funeral service set for June 27 at 12 noon at Banashankari crematorium in Bengaluru.
