South Korean firm Hyosung TNS eyes Tamil Nadu for ATM production plant, targeting both domestic,international markets . Announcement came from S . Keerthana, Minister for Industries, who shared details of talks with company leaders during her South Korea trip.
On X,Keerthana showed optimism about the partnership,saying,“We will extend our full support to this initiative and look forward to welcoming Hyosung TNS to Tamil Nadu.” Her visit was her first trip abroad since taking office last month. It highlights her push for global manufacturing investments in state.
Hyosung TNS,a self-banking tech leader, is part of Hyosung Group. Founded in 1966 in Seoul, conglomerate spans over 30 countries, employs around 30,000 globally,with annual sales topping $11 billion. Already in India, active in sectors like man-made fiber textiles,switchgear,transformers.
Keerthana also met HD Hyundai Heavy Industries reps, planning a new shipyard in Thoothukudi. This ₹40,000 crore project from a December 2025 deal aims to boost India's shipbuilding capabilities. She said shipyard is a key result of India-Republic of Korea maritime cooperation,showing stronger ties between nations.
Tamil Nadu hosts over 150 Korean firms,with 4,000+ Korean families,largest Korean expat community in India. Keerthana's outreach included meeting Motilink, an automotive electronics maker for Hyundai,Kia. Motilink wants to expand manufacturing in Tamil Nadu to better serve partners in India,abroad.
Tamil Nadu government stays committed to boosting state's industrial scene, actively attracting foreign investments,fostering advanced manufacturing and tech collaborations.
