Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting launched effort to boost film industry,announcing new high-level study group Monday. Led by renowned lyricist and filmmaker Prasoon Joshi, group includes industry experts,technology partners to examine Indian cinema's current state.
Initiative aims to uncover opportunities, tackle sector challenges, focusing on making Indian films more globally competitive . Group expected to propose policy framework supporting long-term industry growth. Report on findings due in three months.
Alongside study group,Ministry developed model State Cinema Regulations for state governments to adopt. Regulations aim to standardize cinema and theater rules,which vary widely. These inconsistencies have stifled cinema infrastructure development,especially in smaller towns and rural areas.
Ministry reached out to all states,urging them to adopt these regulations . Committed to helping apply rules practically,hoping to create more cohesive film industry across India . But will states follow through…?
