Meeting in Bonn runs June 8-18, mid-year session for two subsidiary bodies on implementation and scientific advice. First multilateral climate conference since COP30 in Belém, Brazil last November. Aims to turn past outcomes into negotiable text for CoP31 in Antalya, Turkey, this November.
India also flagged concerns over unilateral trade measures, specifically European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Urges these measures shouldn't block climate efforts of developing nations,calling for balanced approach in Mitigation Work Programme.
India stresses equity,historical responsibility should guide talks. Argues developing countries need carbon space to fight poverty,boost energy access,while developed nations must lead on emissions cuts,including negative emissions strategies when needed .
