Twenty-four Indian crew members aboard Palau-flagged tanker MT Marivex rescued after missile attack off Oman,Indian Coast Guard reported Tuesday. Attack happened June 8 while vessel anchored near Masirah,prompting urgent maritime response.
ICG’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai got alert from crew member's relative. Recognizing critical nature of situation,MRCC quickly contacted Oman Maritime Search and Rescue Centre (OMSC) to coordinate rescue. ICG stressed immediate threat to crew's safety,requiring fast action with OMSC.
OMSC took charge,diverting nearby vessel and deploying two rescue helicopters to scene. Constant communication between Mumbai and Oman centers ensured close monitoring,facilitating safe crew extraction.
By June 8's end,OMSC confirmed all crew rescued with no casualties or injuries reported. Rescued personnel are now safe,tanker still anchored off Masirah.
