The Jewels of the World exhibition has made its debut in Riyadh, showcasing a diverse array of luxury jewelry that extends beyond traditional precious metals. Held at the Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah and the Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh, the event opened on Sunday, drawing attention from both regional and international brands.
This marks the first instance of the Jewels of the World series expanding to two venues within the Saudi capital. The exhibition is not merely about displaying collections; it is a strategic move to open new markets and foster commercial partnerships, according to Dana Al-Alami of the National Committee for Precious Metals and Gemstones.
Al-Alami emphasized that Saudi consumers are increasingly valuing craftsmanship, originality, and personal meaning over the mere value of precious metals and gemstones. This shift is evident in the way brands are now focusing on design, craftsmanship, and storytelling to capture the interest of buyers.
“Through my experience in the gold and diamond industry, I see that the Saudi consumer has become more aware and precise in their choices, ” Al-Alami noted. She explained that consumers are now more interested in the quality of manufacturing, the precision of details, and the uniqueness of design rather than just the size of the diamond or the value of gold.
The exhibition also highlights the evolving tastes of Saudi buyers, which are attracting international attention. This aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, aiming to position the Kingdom as a regional hub for industry, trade, and investment.
Al-Alami pointed out that Saudi Arabia's strong demand for jewelry is rooted in cultural traditions that connect gold and jewelry with family celebrations, identity, and heritage. “Jewelry is not just a precious piece; it is often linked to an occasion, a memory, or a special feeling, ” she explained, emphasizing the personal significance buyers seek in their purchases.
The growing number of global exhibitions in Riyadh reflects the market's strength and the country's ambitions to become a regional center for jewelry production. The Kingdom is benefiting from a burgeoning manufacturing base, accumulated expertise, and evolving regulations, which create opportunities beyond being just a consumer market.
The exhibition halls in Riyadh are bustling with established jewelry houses and emerging designers vying for the attention of a new generation of discerning Saudi buyers.
