Karnataka's government has locked in infrastructure plan for first phase of mega textile park in Kalaburagi. Part of PM MITRA scheme. Home,IT-BT and e-Governance Minister Priyank Kharge announced during meeting in Bengaluru. Construction could kick off soon.
This project targets over ₹1,800 crore in investments. Key for Kalyana Karnataka, a cotton hub. First phase spans about 1,000 acres near Honna Kiranagi, Nadisinnur,and Firozabad villages along Kalaburagi–Jewargi highway.
Kharge said groundwork's done, paving way for systematic rollout. State government earmarked ₹75 crore in 2026-27 budget. Earlier,Industries Minister MB Patil and Kharge reviewed project, planned DPR revisions for Centre's Project Approval Committee.
Park's designed as integrated textile hub,fitting Centre’s “5F” vision: Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory,Factory to Fashion, Fashion to Foreign. Expected to generate over 100,000 direct jobs,200,000 to 300,000 indirect.
First phase infrastructure includes land development, internal roads,RCC drainage for stormwater. Plans also for underground power lines, solar street lighting.
Industrial water needs? Comprehensive supply network planned. Supported by five-lakh-litre ground reservoir, 10-lakh-litre elevated treated-water reservoir. Environmental plans include 2.5 MLD CETP with ZLD technology.
Kharge stressed high-quality standards,timelines important throughout project execution. PM MITRA park got Centre’s nod in 2023, Kalaburagi chosen for its cotton-rich location, including Yadgir,Raichur,Bidar, Vijayapura.
After approval, former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai laid foundation stone, facilitated MOUs with around ten textile, cotton-processing firms . Expecting close to ₹2,000 crore in investments .
