Karnataka State Minorities Commission tackling banks' reluctance to loan to minority communities . At a review meeting in Chamarajanagar Saturday,Chairman U. Nisar Ahmed flagged complaints about slow loan processing, especially for education .
Ahmed pushed for swift action,urging banks,officials to speed up disbursement and report beneficiary numbers. He stressed eligible street vendors must access loan facilities meant for them. "All eligible individuals must get the help they need," he said.
Besides loan issues,Ahmed highlighted need for timely housing scheme benefits for urban,semi-urban, and rural beneficiaries. Officials instructed to engage directly with those facing hurdles,to fast-track housing projects.
Data collection also key focus. Ahmed told officials to gather accurate stats on minority kids in anganwadis, schools. He stressed ensuring their enrollment,attendance, under Right to Education Act. "Minority children shouldn't miss educational opportunities," he said, calling for enough teachers in schools.
The Commission closely watching welfare schemes for minority communities. Ahmed insisted benefits in housing,education,loans,skill development must arrive on time . "We need to make sure all welfare schemes are implemented," he added.
Deputy Commissioner Shreeroopa suggested taluk-level camps to boost access to Labour Department schemes. She stressed need for broad awareness of government program benefits. "Officials must strictly implement schemes for minority communities," she noted.
Meeting also saw input from others like Mona Roth, CEO of Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat,and Majuddin Khan,Secretary of Karnataka State Minorities Commission. Their joint efforts aim to ensure minority communities get support,resources to thrive…but challenges remain.
