B.K. Hariprasad, president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC),accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of misusing donations meant for Ram Temple in Ayodhya. At KPCC seminar, he said these groups undermine India's pluralistic nature.
Hariprasad drew parallels to history, saying,“Mahmud of Ghazni plundered this country many times. But today it's RSS and BJP looting temples.” He accused them of exploiting faith for gain, deceiving people in religion's name.
He called himself proud Hindu, following ideals of Mahatma Gandhi,Swami Vivekananda, and Basavanna. Hariprasad contrasted this with RSS founders like M.S. Golwalkar and Nathuram Godse. He pushed for Hinduism that embraces equality, harmony among religions, saying, “Secularism means coexistence with mutual respect.”
He highlighted India's diversity: many religions,22 official languages, countless dialects. Hariprasad accused BJP,RSS of trying to dilute this diversity with slogans like “one nation, one education, one leader, one religion.”
But he said Congress wouldn't oppose RSS if it adopted Constitution, democracy, secularism. “They aren't our enemies; they're fellow countrymen,” he noted, adding that embracing national flag, democratic values could lead to cooperation.
With Bengaluru civic elections nearing,Hariprasad urged Congress workers to know BJP's Ram Madhav, leading their campaign. He claimed BJP distracts voters with divisive issues like Pakistan, halal, hijab, ignoring governance.
On national security,Hariprasad criticized NDA government over Operation Sindoor. He pointed out contradictions in official statements about Indian soldier casualties. Government said none died, then Defence Minister Rajnath Singh honored six soldiers . “This raises serious questions about government’s credibility,” he stated.
