The price of Milma milk will rise by ₹4 per litre starting Monday, June 1,as announced by the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation. This increase is attributed to escalating production costs and insufficient returns for dairy farmers, who have been significantly impacted by these economic pressures.

During a meeting held in May, the federation decided to implement the price hike. Following this adjustment, the cost of a 500 ml sachet of Milma Double Toned Milk (Milma Smart) will be ₹27, while Homogenised toned milk will be priced at ₹28,and Milma Pride (Homogenised) will increase to ₹30.

Of the ₹4 increase,₹3.35, or 83.75%, will directly benefit dairy farmers, while 25 paise,or 6.25%, will go to dairy cooperative societies. Consequently, the procurement price for farmers will rise from ₹40.04 to ₹43.39 per litre. The federation cited adverse geopolitical conditions and rising fuel prices as key factors driving up transportation, distribution, and packaging costs for milk and related products.

K.S. Mani, chairman of Milma, emphasized that these circumstances necessitate a "modest increase" in milk prices to ensure the sustainability of Kerala’s cooperative dairy sector. new prices will be printed on existing milk covers, which will display the old prices until current stock is depleted.
