Mindgrove Technologies, based at IIT Madras Research Park,has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Prama India Private Limited to use indigenous chips in CCTV cameras and advanced video security systems. They're calling it one of the biggest commercial rollouts of Indian-designed silicon yet.
Per agreement,Prama will use Mindgrove's Vision SoC,its second chip, funded by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s Design Linked Incentive scheme. deal will also drive joint design and development to boost capabilities of both players.
Shashwath TR, Co-founder and CEO of Mindgrove,stressed this partnership's importance,saying it shows Vision SoC as a production-ready platform that hits performance,reliability,and scalability marks for real-world security needs. This comes as India ramps up semiconductor efforts to cut reliance on imported chips,especially in critical areas like security and surveillance.
Ashish P. Dhakan, Managing Director and CEO of Prama India,said this deal isn't just about tech but also building strategic capabilities in India's semiconductor space. He said it would spur innovation,strengthen supply chains, and fit with Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision in key tech sectors.
