The India Meteorological Department logged over 200mm (about eight inches) of rain in 24 hours. Chaos followed. Roads flooded. Landslides on the expressway to Pune shut down traffic between two cities.
TV footage showed debris littering roads,rainwater pouring from tunnel roofs. Flights delayed or canceled,train services disrupted — particularly those linking Mumbai and Pune.
