In bold move, Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) tore down over 50 stalls near municipal hospital in Old Hubballi Wednesday . Aim: clear path for ambulances, vehicles. Stalls had been major roadblock.
Demolition came after long legal fight. Shopkeepers had resisted since 2018,but a recent court ruling favored HDMC. Municipal Commissioner Rudresh Ghali was on site, running show under police watch to keep things orderly.
Some shopkeepers protested as demolition went on,but it didn't stop anything. Ghali told them decision was final, done for public safety. Debris removal will take days, officials said.
HDMC wants better access to hospital, faster emergency response. This demolition is just one piece of bigger puzzle . How soon will changes take effect…?
