This on-site assessment aims to facilitate immediate relief efforts as over 237,000 individuals have already been evacuated to safety.

Relief camps have been established in nearly 300 locations, including schools and along river embankments, to accommodate those displaced by the floods. The state government has also taken the precautionary measure of canceling leave for all employees, while schools and educational institutions remain closed due to the adverse weather conditions .

The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in three districts: Balasore, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. Three senior officials are monitoring relief operations in Bhadrak,Jajpur, and Balasore.

“These three days are crucial for north Odisha districts,” Garg stated, emphasizing the need for immediate action to assist those affected. The IMD has noted that depression, which formed from a well-marked low-pressure area,is currently located about 80 kilometers west-southwest of Satkhira in Bangladesh and is expected to move northwest toward Jharkhand within next 24 hours.
