President Droupadi Murmu is set to honor a diverse group of 131 individuals with prestigious Padma awards on June 23. Among the recipients are acclaimed actors Mammootty and R . Madhavan,alongside the late Satish Shah, who will receive the award posthumously, as confirmed by officials on June 8 .
This year's awards include five Padma Vibhushans, 13 Padma Bhushans, and 113 Padma Shris. The first round of the civil investiture ceremony took place on May 25,where President conferred two Padma Vibhushans, six Padma Bhushans, and 58 Padma Shris. The upcoming ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan will complete distribution of this year's honors.
Mammootty, celebrated for his extensive career spanning over 50 years and 400 films in various languages, will receive the Padma Bhushan. His contributions extend beyond cinema, as he is also recognized for his philanthropic efforts. R. Madhavan, affectionately known as Maddy, will be awarded the Padma Shri for his work in 1,200 television episodes and 75 films across multiple languages.
Satish Shah, a beloved figure in Indian entertainment,will be honored posthumously with the Padma Shri. His family will accept award on his behalf. Additionally,Telugu actor Gadde Babu Rajendra Prasad,noted for his prolific career in 286 films over four decades, will also receive the Padma Shri during the ceremony.
