Farmer from Raipur has taken his land dispute to Supreme Court,claiming Swami Vivekananda Airport encroaches on his family’s ancestral property. Seeking nearly ₹3,500 crore compensation,Ashwani Bandhe argues land was temporarily acquired by British during World War II for military use,with understanding it'd be returned post-war.
Now 53,Bandhe's pursued this claim over 35 years. Earlier this year,Chhattisgarh High Court ordered new inquiry . But Bandhe insists issue already thoroughly examined by authorities. In June 2026,he took matter to Supreme Court,where case now pending.
To back his claim,Bandhe's presented historical land records,acquisition documents,archival materials. Reports say he's also got records from state culture department referencing his ancestors with land used for wartime airfield. His compensation demand includes unpaid rent,interest,other dues accumulated over decades.
