Russian Railways plans to boost grain transportation to Iran,says CEO Oleg Belozerov. Company reported big jump: 65,000 tons moved through Astara in year's first half . That's over four times more than same time in 2022 .
Belozerov highlighted positive trends,noting June alone saw 555 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) moved,up 3.5% from last year. And cargo volume surged to 47,500 tons — a stunning 50% rise.
To bolster trade,Russian Railways signed a trilateral protocol with Azerbaijan and Iran . This deal boosts North-South ITC route's commercial pull. Nations aim to set up "digital corridor" for synced data systems,paperless transport.
