Farmers' Delegation Raises Concerns with Chandigarh Leadership
A group representing farmers convened with the Chandigarh Governor,who also serves as the region’s Administrator,to discuss vital issues impacting agricultural sector. The session highlighted various demands and was pivotal in addressing challenges confronting the farming community.
During the encounter,the farmers reiterated the necessity for a formal guarantee regarding price support for their produce,relief from existing debts,and initiatives aimed at preserving water resources. Additionally,they sought enhancements to crop insurance schemes, clarity on land acquisition processes, and a request for the dismissal of legal actions resulting from past protests against controversial agricultural legislation.
The Governor committed to championing these issues with both the state and federal governments, underlining the importance of agricultural stability, effective water management, and support for farmers' livelihoods. He remarked that these topics require urgent and thorough examination.
He further encouraged the delegation to develop comprehensive proposal that delineates their requests while suggesting feasible,sustainable solutions . Such a document would streamline presentation of their concerns to appropriate government bodies .
In addition,the Governor updated the farmers on the status of withdrawing legal complaints against leaders of the agricultural protests . He confirmed that the request for this withdrawal has been sent to the President of India,indicating that necessary administrative procedures are moving forward.
The farmers expressed gratitude for the Governor’s engagement and expressed hope that his advocacy would lead to a prompt resolution of the issues they raised. They departed with optimism regarding future dialogues with governmental authorities.
