Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar talked about bold vision of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 at Guru Nanak College's 50th Graduation Day Thursday . He said policy's goal is to create entrepreneurs,not just job-seekers . "Is aim of education simply to get job? Am I to become job-seeker? Or,am I to become job-giver? That is what we have to decide," he challenged students to reconsider their goals.
Arlekar stressed importance of education that aligns with local needs, suggesting this approach would boost self-sufficiency and help nation-building. He called NEP 2020 a major move towards decolonizing education in India. A shift in structure.
Governor handed out medals and certificates to top students across many disciplines. R.M. Ezhilarasi,Principal of Guru Nanak College, noted college's growth since 1971, expanding from 450 students in three undergrad programs to 7,000 students in 28 undergrad programs,nine postgrad programs,eight doctoral research programs, and over 80 skill-based and value-added courses.
Among those present were Manjit Singh Nayyar,General Secretary and Correspondent,and Anitha Mallisetty, Controller of Examinations, joining in celebrating graduates' achievements.
