The Telangana government is responding to a surge in demand at its Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) by extending daily operating hours. Starting from May 29 and running through June 3, registration centers will remain open until 7:30 p.m. This change allows citizens to avoid long queues, with offices now operating from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Recent announcements from the state regarding upcoming revisions to land and registration values have spurred this increased activity. Officials expect a proposed upward adjustment in these figures. The government's reasoning for this change relates to the thriving real estate market and aims to tackle a notable gap between official valuation rates and actual market prices. This discrepancy has previously led to reduced state revenues.
In light of these developments, Telangana's Revenue Minister, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has directed officials to improve the registration process. He urged them to quickly resolve the issues that have caused long queues at the SROs. Mr. Srinivas Reddy also stressed the importance of increasing the number of registration slots available to meet current demand.
Additionally, the minister called for better coordination among SROs, especially regarding agricultural land registrations. This initiative intends to reduce delays in processing essential documents, creating a more efficient experience for applicants.
