Severe rainfall in northeastern India killed three in Arunachal Pradesh after flash floods hit. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Sunday, June 28,2026,that conditions are ripe for southwest monsoon to push into northern states in five to six days.
In Arunachal's Lower Siang district, heavy rains triggered landslide blocking Siji River, threatening lives and infrastructure downstream. Alarms raised in Assam. Authorities there warned of potential flash floods.
Meanwhile,Mumbai's suburbs got hammered by intense overnight showers on June 29. Some areas recorded over 100 mm in just four hours. Veena Nagar in Mulund saw 160.4 mm,Versova 156.8 mm. Waterlogging and traffic disruptions reported across city,civic officials said.
IMD forecasts monsoon will likely reach more areas in North Arabian Sea and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand soon. This as national capital just had its warmest morning in two years…delayed rains.
