President Donald Trump rolled out plans to overhaul East Potomac Golf Links in Washington,D.C.,calling it “one of the Greatest Golf Courses anywhere in the World.” Ambitious? Yes . This public-access project was laid out on Truth Social after Trump's tour of the capital's landmarks.
Trump toured with Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and golf architect Tom Fazio to survey the course. He called it “dilapidated” and “dangerous,” pointing to neglect over years. Trees are damaged, falling branches a hazard, and sprinkler system barely works — only a fraction of it operational .
“The grass is largely dead, the greens are virtually unplayable,” Trump said. He wants major renovations. Hopes new course will draw big tournaments like The U.S. Open and Ryder Cup.
Construction kicks off September 1st,with Fazio leading design. Trump promised high standards but said course stays open to public. Meanwhile,he mentioned repairs to Lincoln Reflecting Pool, blaming vandalism for past damage. Claimed pool's now fixed after recent work.
“They cut the lower surface of a very expensive and strong waterproof padding,” Trump said of vandalism. More work planned to return Reflecting Pool to its 1922 glory.
As Trump pushes these projects, he's looking to restore prestige to capital . Will these efforts transform public spaces in Washington,D.C.? Time will tell…
