Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) just secured a 10-acre plot in Amerigog village,Kamrup Metropolitan district,Assam. This marks a big step in building first Sri Venkateswara temple in Northeast. On Tuesday,Assam government finalized registration, handing over ownership to TTD. Documents given to TTD Trust Board Chairman B.R. Naidu.
This move fits with Andhra Pradesh's plan to create replica temples of Lord Venkateswara in various states and Union Territories . Last August, Naidu met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati to discuss project details.
Naidu is excited about site,nestled in scenic valley between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Plans for foundation stone are close to finalization with both Andhra Pradesh and Assam governments. "The proposed Balaji Mandir in the land of Maa Kamakhya will be spiritually important," Naidu said,noting it gives Northeast devotees a local worship spot, cutting down trips to Tirupati.
