Authorities in Madikeri nabbed two men Tuesday trying to sell star tortoise,known scientifically as Geochelone. CID Forest Mobile Squad acted on tip-off about illicit sale happening at bus shelter near Kannanda Padubeeru circle .
Raid went down around 6:30 p.m.,leading to arrest of Sreedharan C.K.,70,and Vishnu Acharya,68, both from Kasargod district in Kerala. The tortoise was seized . Operation led by Shivashankar and team including Umesh N.K., Sharanth K.P.,Divyashree,and Swamy M.
Guidance for raid came from Sangeetha G ., Deputy Inspector General of Police for CID Forest unit in Bengaluru,and Pawan Netturu,Superintendent of Police for CID Forest Unit in Madikeri. After arrest,two men were presented in court then remanded to judicial custody.
