Authorities in Monaco are hunting for Ukrainian woman accused of orchestrating a parcel bombing that injured a wealthy real estate developer and two others. Anastasiia Berezovska,39, is identified as main suspect in attack,which happened Monday evening as three residents entered their apartment.
Explosion hit just after 21:00 local time. Package placed in entrance hall detonated. It injured Vadym Yermolaiev,his partner, and their 13-year-old son. Yermolaiev, a Cypriot citizen, is prominent in wine and alcohol business in Russian-annexed Crimea,under Ukrainian sanctions since 2023.
Monaco's deputy public prosecutor, Morgan Raymond,said Berezovska may have disguised herself as a man. Interpol Red Notice out for her arrest on charges including attempted murder and conspiracy. Authorities think she had accomplices, spent days surveilling area before attack.
Berezovska fled scene on foot,then rented car to travel to Italy,then Germany. Hessian Police in Germany confirmed special forces searched her rented apartment in Main-Taunus district Thursday . They seized vehicle she used, securing evidence to aid Monaco's investigation.
Raymond praised cooperation between Monaco and French police,which helped quickly identify suspect. He called bombing a "heinous crime," underscoring seriousness of situation.
Victims taken to local hospitals. Yermolaiev and partner seriously injured,admitted to Nice University Hospital. Their son,with minor injuries,treated at Lenval children's hospital in Nice. Yermolaiev's condition stabilized,but partner's health still precarious.
Yermolaiev,58, ranked as 39th richest Ukrainian by Forbes in 2020,with estimated fortune of $230 million. Renounced Ukrainian citizenship in 2019, holds major business interests in Crimea.
