U.S. Court of International Trade is pushing Trump administration to speed up refunds for tariffs Supreme Court declared illegal. Judge Richard Eaton pressed the issue Tuesday,saying,“The time has come to refund all the duties.” He warned delays are worsening a “growing inequity” between big importers and small businesses struggling.
Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) has started processing part of estimated $166 billion collected from these tariffs. Susan Thomas, agency's executive assistant commissioner for trade, told court roughly $90 billion in claims are moving through various stages. But she warned, “We can’t do it all at once.”
