Uttar Pradesh will enhance its manufacturing sector through a new partnership with Japan, with projects worth ₹3,191 crore. A virtual ground-breaking ceremony with Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation is expected to create over 10,240 jobs, drawing Japanese investment interest.
At the UP–Japan Investment Meet 2026 in New Delhi, over 200 Japanese delegates, including business leaders, discussed collaboration in manufacturing, electronics, and green hydrogen. The aim was to turn the India–Japan relationship into real investments and jobs.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized Japan's role as a key partner for Uttar Pradesh, calling for more cooperation in technology and agriculture. He urged Japanese companies to invest in the state, highlighting the potential of Japanese technology and local manpower.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, another Union Minister, echoed this sentiment, pointing to infrastructure and innovation as key areas for growth. He invited Japanese firms to explore opportunities in railways, defence, and agriculture, saying, “Come, invest in India, invest in Uttar Pradesh.”
The projects aim to boost Uttar Pradesh's manufacturing base. Escorts Kubota plans a ₹2,025 crore investment in Sector-10 of YEIDA for tractor and construction equipment production, creating around 3,800 jobs. Minda Corporation is investing ₹1,166 crore in two projects to produce ignition switches and wiring harnesses, generating about 6,440 jobs.
These initiatives are a significant financial commitment and strengthen YEIDA's status as a hub for Japanese manufacturing. Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture, noted the presence of over 200 Japanese delegates as a sign of confidence in the partnership. He pointed to opportunities in green hydrogen and renewable energy.
Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, called for the partnership to expand into tech centers, R&D facilities, and skill development. He said Japanese precision engineering could greatly enhance the state's workforce and technology transfer.
The proposed Japanese City near Noida International Airport is a key part of this plan, aiming to create an industrial environment near semiconductor and electronics sectors. With 17 operational airports and over 75,000 acres of industrial land, Uttar Pradesh is positioned to attract Japanese investment.
As Kubota and Minda projects advance, the UP–Japan Investment Meet 2026 has solidified Uttar Pradesh's goal to build a sustainable Japanese industrial ecosystem, aligning with its ambition for a one-trillion-dollar economy focused on manufacturing and technology transfer.
