Ganesh Godiyal, the president of Uttarakhand Congress, expressed on Saturday that a transformation in political leadership is anticipated following forthcoming elections in 2027. He highlighted the critical need for a cohesive opposition to effectively challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),which he claimed has utilized questionable tactics during elections .

Engaging in extensive outreach, the Congress party has been on a campaign trail known as the 'Parivartan Sankalp Yatra,' which began on June 29. This initiative is covering the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand, where Godiyal and key figures like Pritam Singh,Karan Mahara, and Harak Singh Rawat are connecting with communities through a series of public events.

In recent event held in Kumaon, Godiyal remarked on the positive response from audience, pointing out that the prevailing sentiment indicates a strong desire for political change . He stated,"The citizens are increasingly dissatisfied with issues such as unemployment, inflation, oppressive governance, and misleading narratives from current administration." This, he argued, positions Congress as a strong contender against the BJP.

The current segment of the yatra is scheduled to wrap up on July 8, with subsequent plans aimed at reaching the downtown districts of Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, and Haridwar being formulated. Godiyal remains hopeful about Congress's capacity to tackle pressing state issues, presenting party as a potential resolution for public discontent.

Regarding collaborations with the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) and other opposition entities for upcoming elections,Godiyal emphasized the necessity of solidarity among rival groups to effectively counter the BJP's maneuvers. "It is essential for the opposition to work collectively to combat dubious methods employed by BJP during elections," he mentioned. Nevertheless,he reassured that this does not reflect any doubts concerning the Congress's capability to challenge the BJP on its own.

In response to inquiries about possible alliances with other opposition factions,Godiyal indicated that such matters would be deliberated upon after thorough discussions with party's Political Affairs Committee and central leadership. "If any proposals arise, my responsibility will be to bring them to the Political Affairs Committee and central leadership for consideration," he stated, emphasizing the importance of strategic dialogue within the party.
