Hoteliers in Vijayawada are raising alarm over skyrocketing prices for commercial piped natural gas, urging Andhra Pradesh government to step in. In appeal to Joint Collector S . Ilakkiya Tuesday, members of Vijayawada Hotel Owners Association stressed hospitality's role in jobs and tourism .

Hoteliers compared public sector companies, which keep rates steady, with private distributors charging much more. They cited Rajamahendravaram, where gas prices are more reasonable, arguing government must regulate commercial PNG prices consistently if hospitality is to switch to piped gas.
And they want the 18% GST on hotel and restaurant rental premises cut. They say this high tax rate hurts business viability, especially for small and medium outfits . A drop from 18% to 5% could ease financial strain, save jobs, encourage investment…
