Authorities in Ahmedabad took down two separate fraud rings targeting medical aspirants. Cyber Crime Branch of Ahmedabad City Police nabbed two in Rajasthan for Telegram scam promising leaked NEET-UG 2026 re-exam papers. Meanwhile,a 19-year-old from Bihar was caught for allegedly hacking student accounts to steal NEET refunds.
In first case,police detained Sumer Singh from Jaipur and Akash Meena from Kota. They set up Telegram channels like “RaghavSinghNEET,” later handed off to an anonymous “Private Mafia.” Through these channels,they pushed fake posts and ads,claiming access to secret NEET re-exam papers. To seem legit, they faked subscriber numbers with third-party apps,luring parents and students into premium memberships.
No actual NEET materials found on suspects. Total scam to get online payments. Last month, fraudsters contacted about 1,000 numbers and Telegram channels, pulling in ₹1.5 crore. They hid dirty money by running investment scams promising big returns,funneling funds through accounts tied to online gaming sites. Eventually,they siphoned off cash
Authorities linked 12 complaints from various states to six main bank accounts of accused. They face multiple charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act, including cheating and impersonation.
In second case, police tracked Navin Kumar, 19,from Bihar, who allegedly pulled off a digital heist hitting accounts of 350 NEET-UG 2026 candidates . Kumar exploited weak passwords,sneaking into profiles of 150 students. He changed bank details to divert legitimate refunds to his accounts.
After arrests,officials warn students,parents against trusting Telegram channels or social media ads claiming to offer advance papers or guaranteed admissions . They stress using strong,complex passwords for exam portals to block unauthorized access. Authorities also advise against financial transactions based on unverified online messages.
For suspicious online activity or cyber fraud,report incidents to National Cyber Helpline Number (1930). Cabinet Secretary said anyone trying to manipulate NEET-UG 2026 retest will face severe legal consequences.
Meanwhile, National Testing Agency said around four lakh candidates downloaded admit cards for NEET-UG re-exam set for June 21. Agency noted some users having technical issues and assured teams are working to fix these...
