Andhra Pradesh government is cutting 43 Civil Assistant Surgeons for being AWOL too long. Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said Wednesday some hadn't shown up for nearly four years,ignoring show-cause notices.

It's second time in just over month state has acted against absentee doctors. In May,51 were ousted from teaching hospitals for same reason. 118 were flagged as missing,only nine came back after notices. Of rest,43 face dismissal,34 resigned after receiving warnings .

19 doctors gave personal reasons for absences. 13 more cases still under review. Government's cracking down on this, Yadav made clear — no tolerance for no-shows.
