During two-day visit to Prakasam district, Vetukuri A.V.S. Surya Narayana Raju,Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR),urged state government to establish Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) in newly formed Markapuram district. He noticed serious issues in child protection there.

With APSCPCR member Vundavalli Gandhi Babu,Raju ran district-level workshop and meeting with DCPU officials,other departments at Collectorate in Ongole. Talks covered recent child labor cases,child marriages,bonded labor stats from last two years.

Raju demanded police FIR details on these issues,requested follow-up reports. He looked into re-enrollment rates of girls in schools,checked effectiveness of awareness programs against child marriage. APSCPCR chief paid close attention to Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,reviewing case numbers.

Coordination across departments was another focus. Raju emphasized cooperation among District Medical and Health,Women and Child Welfare, Education departments on birth certificates for affected kids. He directed Municipal, District Medical and Health,Rural Water Supply officials to improve hostel facilities,curb seasonal diseases .

Quality,hygiene of meals for students in welfare hostels,especially tribal areas,were flagged for improvement.
