Heavy rains hit parts of Mumbai and Raigad,leading Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to warn residents. Alert follows three-hour orange warning from India Meteorological Department (IMD),activated at 7:00 AM today. Thunderstorms, lightning,gusty winds up to 40 km/h possible in isolated spots.
IMD says Southwest Monsoon moving deeper into Maharashtra,with more rain expected in Mumbai over next 48 hours. Monsoon also pushing into central Arabian Sea,stretching into Telangana and covering rest of Karnataka plus parts of Chhattisgarh,Odisha, Jharkhand,Bihar.
Residents told to stay alert for sudden thunderstorms and lightning. Forecast shows moderate rain spells likely,which might cause local disruptions.
