At least 18 students died in fire at coaching centre in Purania area of Aliganj,Lucknow,Monday. Many were trapped,prompting immediate response from police,ambulances.
Fire ripped through multi-storey building housing coaching centre,engulfing premises fast. Students aged 20-24 were inside. A nearby pet shop also destroyed,but firefighters saved some cats.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,in Aligarh when fire hit,expressed sorrow . "Loss of lives in fire accident in Lucknow is extremely tragic," he said,offering condolences to families. He prayed for peace of departed souls,quick recovery of injured.
Adityanath canceled plans,rushed to site to assess situation . Announced ₹5 lakh for each deceased's family,₹50,000 for seriously injured. "Directed officials to provide financial aid for this untimely loss," he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak confirmed injured receiving treatment in local hospitals. Team of specialist doctors,six ambulances sent for medical care. "Necessary instructions issued for every possible assistance," Pathak said,emphasizing government's commitment to support victims.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief,announcing ₹2 lakh for next of kin of each deceased,₹50,000 for injured. "Anguished by loss of lives in fire mishap in Lucknow,my condolences to bereaved families," Modi remarked . Assured rescue operations ongoing,authorities providing needed support .
