Bengaluru will host BRICS Heads of Space Agencies (HOSA) meeting June 23-24, 2026. India,as current BRICS chair,will welcome heads and senior reps from 11 member countries,including Brazil,China,Egypt,Ethiopia,Indonesia,Iran,Russia,Saudi Arabia,South Africa,and UAE.
This year’s theme: "Building for Resilience,Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability." Reflects people-centric approach emphasized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, 2025, per Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
ISRO says meeting will be crucial dialogue platform for BRICS nations,tackling big issues in global space sector. Space sustainability will be big focus,with agencies sharing insights on sustainable operations and governance frameworks to keep missions debris-free.
Delegates will also dive into policy approaches,regulatory frameworks,and best practices for keeping space activities viable long-term. They'll discuss proposed changes to BRICS Remote Sensing Satellite Constellation (RSSC) Agreement to include new members,along with Terms of Reference for proposed BRICS Space Council.
Indian space tech companies will show off their capabilities,with help from Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe). Presentations will highlight advances in launch services, satellite technologies,geospatial intelligence,and downstream applications. An industry visit to private space enterprises is planned to immerse delegates in India’s growing space ecosystem .
